day 50: wall decor

Tonight, I bit the bullet and put up the wall stickers that I bought months ago. I still need to finish the other part of the wall, and the bottom...but so far they look pretty good! I'm glad I finally got the guts to put them up.

day 49: Shoppin'!

Today was another boring day, I spent more time watching the Olympics, cleaning my room and then I headed to the mall for some shopping.

The Gap had 40% off your entire purchase today so I bought Jake 2 polo shirts and some clothes for gymnastics.

Then I came home and finished setting up his little section of our room. Cute huh? I'm almost done!

day 48: reading week begins.

This reading week sucks! It's Wednesday and I'm only just starting my 'free' time. Monday was Family Day, Tuesday Jake stayed home because of a fever and lack of sleep...and today he's at daycare. This year reading week for me is only 3 days long...not long enough in my opinion.

No pics today, all I did was clean. Boooooring.

day 47: one big empty wall

this is one wall in our room. It's long and empty.
The part from the closet to the tv is 8ft.
I'm torn as to what I should do with it. I've considered getting shelves, but that may just make it look cluttered.
Then I bought stickers (those space stickers on top of the toy shelf).
I was going to get a wall decal that says

but I'm not sure if that would be considered cheesey or not.

I was searching etsy earlier and found this rocket ship. It's fabulous, but I can't really afford to spend that much money on something for the wall.

Any suggestions would be awesome! I'll keep you posted as to what I decide to do with it.

day 46: family day

I tried to make family day 100% about my boy this year. We did whatever he wanted all morning...which involved laying in bed watching movies until 10:30. Then he had baby pancakes and apples for breakfast. After breakfast, I brought out the activity I thought he would like. We painted a birdhouse, he build a box with my dad and I attempted artwork for our room.  It was fun while it lasted. After that, Jake got a fever and spent the rest of the day hanging out on the couch. He ended up sleeping from 4:30-7:25, then staying up until midnight. poor kiddo.

happy valentines day my love.

day 44: lazy days

It seems that on Saturday we can never get moving. We generally spend the day tidying our room, napping and just hanging out watching tv. It could be due to the busy weeks we have, we never really have time to rest during the week because I have school everyday, and he therefore goes to daycare all day.

Today the boy and I just spent time at home. We watched the Olympics, cleaned our room, watched cartoons and made valentines day cards for my parents. They aren't very valentine-sy but Jake insisted on having things his way.

He made them all by himself, all I had to do was write what he asked me to.

I'm off to try and get him to sleep cause I want to watch 500 Days of Summer

day 43: oh what a life...

Today was my good friend from schools birthday, so after class we headed to the mall for some lunch and shopping because ofcourse it's what we do best.

I splurged on myself and bought a couple new things, including some necklaces from American Eagle. I love them, they are so me.

This is probably my favourite at the moment.

Tonight was Jake's very first gymnastics class! He did really well for his very first lesson ever. He was in swimming when he was an infant, but since then he hasn't been enrolled in anything. He had one issue and wanted to come and see me, but after promises of fun stuff to discover at the top of the stairs, he was off again having fun. I think he's really going to enjoy it...he's dying to get on the rings...but they didn't have a chance today. Hopefully next week, because he's really excited about it.

I watched the opening ceremonies tonight aswell, and they were spectacular! I was in awe, I'm proud to be a Canadian.

My laptop died today...so I took him to the doctor and $111.87 later, he will be fixed by Monday (ish). Thank goodness for desktops.

Tonight, J and I made valentines day cookies.

day 41: aahh labour relations

so unfortunately, there is still no concrete decision regarding the college professors strike. as of today, the union has voted 51% in favor of accepting the final offer given by management, however the margin is only 210 votes, with 300 mail-in votes still outstanding. What does this mean? It means that they will give 10 days for the mail in votes to be tallied before releasing final numbers.

So 10 days from now will bring the final results of the vote, and we will know 100% if there will be a strike or not. My hope is that the professors and faculty will accept the offer and continue operations as usual. I understand their demands, and I agree with them on a few things however in order for negotiation to work both sides have to make a compromise - so its time to think about the 200,000+ students that will suffer if they do go on strike. It's my last semester of college, I would really like to make the most of my educational experience and get what I have paid for. Not to mention if the they do strike and it extends the semester my whole summer will be messed up. (a trip before starting work mid-May).

So lets all just keep our fingers crossed that there is no strike, and if there is...lets hope it lasts 1-2 weeks max.
 [steps off soapbox]

Thank goodness next week is reading week, I need time to catch up with school work. Sidenote, I register my baby for JK tomorrow.
Flashback! Jacob at 6 months

Jacob just shy of 4
Two very important friends in my boy's life....Spot and Mira (my-ra).

day 39: pampered princess

Today was a prett good day, I actually made it to class (woot!) and stayed for the duration..although I will admit I wanted to leave about 10 minutes into the lecture. Something about someone reading me slides just doesn't sound like a good way to spend 2 hours.

I exchanged Jake's summer clothes for smaller sizes, because my skinny minnie doesn't fit into the size 4's because they don't have elastic waists. I need to figure out how to get a little bit of meat on that kids bones.

This afternoon I went and treated myself to a pedicure. It was great, I love having pretty purple toes. I even had her draw a design on my big toe to make it extra fancy. I'm going to try and go regularly, because it really is a great pick me up.

Tonight, I went and had a reflexology session done. A friend of mine is going through to become a Reflexology Practicioner or something of the sort, and she needs to have 60 sessions done for the practical part of the course. It was great, I was hesitant because someone told me that it would hurt, but it was really relaxing. She explained the benefits to me, and I'm going to suggest it to my grandma who has hip/joint pain. Apparently it works wonders for the body.

I may have to start going regularly,  because I feel great and my feet loved the pampering.

day 38: seriously, it's sunday?

This weekend flew by, I can't believe it's already sunday night.
I'm really not excited for school this week, but I need to get my act together and actually attend classes this week. I think I went to a whopping 3 classes ( of the 10 that I had) last week. Oops.

Here are a mish mash of pictures from the last little while. I don't have any uploaded from today because I was baking/cleaning/visiting all day. My great aunt and uncle are up from Cape Breton this weekend. They flew in on Thursday for a funeral and leave Tuesday to go back. It was nice to see them, it's been about 10 years since we saw them last, so alot has changed since then.

Maybe a trip to the East Coast is in order soon. :)

day 37: art centre

This is our current art centre, so far it has worked well for us...but I think we need a change. Jake likes to do art quite frequently, and it's hard for him because the corner is so cluttered.

Tomorrow, my goal is to move things around and get his art stuff set up in another corner of our room. Hopefully the new set up will work better for him.

day 32: a couple oldies

I was sick all day today, so no new pictures. Here are some oldies from July 2007. I want to go back, so badly. It was probably one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Kitimat, BC
a small town, surrounded by mountains.

maybe, just maybe we'll get to go back soon.
